End of Life Volunteers (Rose Project)
Provide companionship to palliative patients and their families. This service requires specialist bereavement training, which the Trust provides.
Emergency Department Volunteer
Supporting patients and visitors (e.g. wayfinding, companionship, communicating)
Supporting staff with admin tasks (e.g. organisation, telephone calls)
Admin and Clerical Assistants
Supporting administrators and secretaries with non-confidential office tasks (e.g. filing, photocopying, answering phone calls, data entry)
Befriending Volunteer
Support carers of adult patients throughout the hospitals by helping them get an occasional break and keeping the patients company, helping carers better understand the support services available to them.
Women and Children's Services Volunteer
Support parents and babies in our ante and post-natal Maternity wards and Neonatal Unit.
Support patients and families on our children’s ward and in our Children's Emergency Department.
Help carers get an occasional break and better understand the support services available to them.
Breastfeeding Peer Support (BPS) Volunteers
Provide practical, moral, and emotional breastfeeding support to new mums who are in-patients in Watford General Hospital.
Teens and Young People (TYP) volunteers
Our TYP volunteers act as a specialist befriending group, connecting 16–25-year-olds with patients of the same age when they are on hospital wards.
Discharge Assistant
Support patients and staff in the discharge lounge to assist with the smooth discharge process including providing patients with companionship, activities, and drinks and providing staff with occasional admin tasks (filing, transferring paperwork, answering the phone, etc).
MacMillan Cancer Centre Volunteer
Providing admin support and communication with patients, families and friends of patients with cancer.

Supporting the hospitals' reception areas.

Supporting patients, visitors, and staff of all faiths providing comfort, companionship, and a listening ear during times of difficulty.
Charity Volunteers
Raise awareness of our hospital charity by attending events, supporting events and helping with fundraising activity.
