  • Developing a progressive anti-racism policy that implements clear procedures consequences for discriminatory behaviours and practices.
  • Empowering patients and staff to speak up and report racist language or behaviour with the assurance that it will be addressed.
  • Establishing clear and confidential channels for reporting incidents of racial discrimination, harassment and abuse.
  • Enhancing wellbeing resources and support for staff experiencing racism in the workplace.

Having fair and equitable systems and processes

  • Ensuring that decision-making processes in recruitment, progression, training and employee relations are non-discriminatory.
  • Proactively seeking out, assessing, and eliminating institutional practices that perpetuate discrimination.
  • Mainstreaming inclusion and making it everyone’s business.
  • Routinely auditing all employee relations cases to identify and address race disparity in outcomes of comparable case.
  • Strengthening the structures and processes for undertaking and measuring Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) to ensure that trust decisions do not have a disproportionate impact on protected groups.
  • Publishing the results of and acting on outcomes from our annual ethnicity pay gap.
  • Equipping our staff and leaders to live our values.

  • Role model key behaviours including kindness and respect to everyone.
  • Listen to and proactively act on feedback from the voices of underrepresented groups; through running regular safe spaces and listening forums whereby information received will be proactively acted upon.
  • Actively progress Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in their divisions to deliver an inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • Attend culture competency, equality and diversity training to lead and manage their staff and teams.
