Current studies
Most research in the NHS involves patients, and is usually referred to as clinical research.
Clinical research is at the heart of the NHS and an everyday part of the our work at the Trust.
There are different kinds of research, including clinical trials, observational studies and laboratory research.
We know a great deal about health, disease and medicines, but there is still a lot we don’t understand. Research can help fill gaps in medical knowledge and find answers to the things we don’t know to provide better care for our patients in the future.
Research leads to better diagnosis, more effective treatments, and improved results in patient care. High quality research is essential for improving health and healthcare.
Research is currently taking place in a variety of departments in our hospitals.
If you would like to find out more about what research is going on at the Trust and if there are any opportunities for you to take part, please contact us on westherts.
