Biography
Dr Equi qualified in Medicine from Edinburgh Medical school in 1992. I completed my General Paediatric training in London Deanery then specialised in Respiratory Paediatrics at The Royal Brompton Hospital from1997 to 2001.
At Royal Brompton Hospital I had a clinical and research role in Cystic Fibrosis as lead investigator in the clinical trial of Long term Use of Azithromycin in Cystic Fibrosis resulting in a publication in The Lancet Medical Journal.
I took up my consultant role at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals in 2003 and have been here over 20 years .
I set up and established a multidisciplinary Paediatric Cystic fibrosis Clinic to national standards as sole consultant. We have now expanded out Paediatric respiratory team and my colleague, whom was partly trained in Watford has returned to now lead the CF service.
I now lead the Paediatric asthma service within secondary care and as clinical expert for the ICB and Children and Young Peoples nurse asthma service.
I also lead a general respiratory service and have a monthly complex respiratory MDT clinic for those with complex disease and disability.
I am proud to have developed and established a multidisciplinary service with colleagues from nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy , allergy, and community nurses and paediatricians. I also provide a shared care service with the Royal Brompton hospital with access to specialised investigations and a visiting clinic run jointly with link consultant from RBH and local team 6 times a year.
I strive to provide high level evidence based care, individualised to the child and families' needs, from babies through to school aged children and adolescents.
