Biography

Miss Mehta has over 20 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She Initially trained in India in the largest tertiary hospital in Asia and achieved a Gold Medal in her MD.
She subsequently did her training in the UK at the Royal Free Hospital in London where she achieved Advanced Training Modules in Maternal Medicine, Hysteroscopy and Advanced Labour Ward practice.
She joined West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals as a Consultant in 2018 and has been leading Obstetric Medicine and Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy.

She runs Antenatal clinics for women with complex medical disorders including Diabetes in Pregnancy alongside Endocrinologists.
She runs General Gynaecology clinics and Gynaecology Theatres performing surgeries including Laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis, Laparoscopic and open hysterectomy , myomectomy, hysteroscopic procedures etc.

She has presented in National and International conferences and has a keen interest in research.

She was the Principal Investigator for PARROT-2 Trial at our Trust which was subsequently published in Lancet in 2024. This also led to introduction of Placental growth factor testing in women with suspected pre-eclampsia.
She is currently a Principal Investigator for PROTECT study (PRegnancy Outcomes using continuous glucose monitoring TEChnology) in pregnant women with Type 2 diabetes: A multicentre randomised controlled trial of the clinical and cost-effectiveness of using continuous glucose monitoring in pregnant women with type 2 diabetes.
