Biography

I initially completed my medical and paediatric training in Mumbai, India and retrained in the UK in Paediatrics followed by Subspeciality Grid training in Neonatology in London, UK.

I became interested in neonatal research, neurology and clinical trials and completed a Certificate in Human Pharmacology from Royal College of Physicians, UK and MD (Research) degree from University of London (Imperial College London) with my thesis on ‘Pharmacokinetics of Melatonin as a Neuroprotectant in Preterm Infants’.

I was appointed as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College and later at King’s College London and worked at the Centre for the Developing Brain with Professor David Edwards and Professor Denis Azzopardi and been research active with MRC clinical trials such as MIND, MINT, TOBY Xenon.
I have been a substantive neonatal consultant at West Hertfordshire NHS since 2014. I continue to be research active and currently the local PI for 2 international clinical trials. I am also an NLS and GIC instructor and course director for UK resuscitation council courses. My special interest is in neonatal neurology and neurodevelopment follow up. I co chair the East of England Baby Brain Protection Group and lead the developmental follow up work stream. I am also a Bayleys Scale for Infant Development IV assessor and lead the 2 year neurodevelopment follow up at Watford.
