Our ophthalmology service diagnoses, treats and helps prevent disorders of the eyes and visual system.
This includes medical retina disease, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Minor operations and laser treatments are carried out in our dedicated operating theatre space.
We also have a dedicated age-related macular degeneration team at Watford General Hospital.
Watford General Hospital - the Ophthalmology department is located opposite the blood clinic. If coming from the car park, keep walking past the main entrance and it’s the first building on the left after you cross the road.
St Albans City Hospital - the Ophthalmology department is located on 4th Floor in the Moynihan wing.

Our emergency eye clinic is open Monday to Friday, 9am-4.30pm (last appointment at 4pm).
Please note, we do not accept walk in patients. You must be referred via our Emergency department, your GP or your optician.
Please allow 24 hours from receiving your referral and triage to be contacted for an appointment.
