Our Orthotic service provides prescription insoles, braces, splints, callipers, footwear, spinal jackets and helmets which help people avoid injury, recover from injury or live with lifelong conditions.
These items, or orthoses, can help improve quality of life by reducing pain, keeping people mobile and independent.
Our Orthotics service is provided on behalf of West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust by a private company: Peacocks Medical Group.
The Orthotics department is based at Hemel Hempstead Hospital. Enter via the Hillfield Road entrance into the Marnham Wing. Continue through the Blood clinic, through the double doors and our reception is on the left-hand side.
The Orthotics team treat patients who require orthoses, whether they are off the shelf one-off referrals or bespoke custom-made orthoses which are worn continuously for longer periods.
The orthotist will assess and measure you for your device which may be provided on the day, or you may need another appointment for fit and supply.
All clinicians are HCPC registered and have a full BSC Prosthetics and Orthotics degree.
